Video: Day of Hope Brings People Together

For us, Day of Hope has never only been about the sponsorship of the one event. It's about helping Mission Hope Cancer Center acquire the resources needed to ensure no woman faces ovarian cancer alone.

We started the Teal Journey Ovarian Cancer Foundation to educate our community, spread awareness, and help secure funding for those who need it most. We want women to know their bodies, trust their instincts, and advocate for themselves. Awareness saves lives and conversations save lives. The Teal Journey Ovarian Cancer Foundation helped secure funding for genetic counseling and genetic testing, which is something we are extremely proud of. With ovarian cancer, a significant portion of those patients have that cancer because of a genetic predisposition to the cancer.

Genetic counseling is a process where a certified genetic counselor sits down with patients and their families and talks with them about their family history and the probability that a significant gene mutation might be present. The next step past that would be the actual genetic testing, which would help identify genes such as BRCA 1 or 2 or others that may be linked with cancer.

One of the ways we fund these critical tests is by supporting Day of Hope. As an Inspire level sponsor, we've donated more than $178,000 to Mission Hope Cancer Center.

Day of Hope brings people together around one purpose, supporting patients and families facing cancer. We've been supporting the Day of Hope for 9 years. And what an extreme honor and pleasure it is to work with the professionals and the doctors at Mission Hope.

"Thank you to Teal Journey for being a primary sponsor of Day of Hope. We are very blessed to have Teal Journey in our community focused on ovarian cancer and supporting patients at Mission Hope." - Ben Wilkinson, MD - Radiation Oncologist at Mission Hope Cancer Center
"They are one of the few foundations in the community and the area that is very specific to a cancer and specifically ovarian cancer, and we really appreciate that."  - Johnathan Tammela, MD - Genetic Oncologist at Mission Hope Cancer Center

All of the money raised during Day of Hope stays in our community and proceeds directly support patient outreach needs, equipment and technology, and programs and services. Together, we can create awareness, support patients, and save lives.
